Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of NearMeTutor. By using the site or submitting an enquiry, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. What NearMeTutor is

NearMeTutor is an advertising directory that connects parents and students with independent tutors across the UK. We are not an employment agency, tutoring agency, or employer, and we do not supply tutors directly or deliver lessons ourselves. When you are matched with or contact a tutor, any tutoring arrangement is a contract directly between you and that tutor (or tutoring partner).

2. The service we provide

We help you find suitable tutors by matching your enquiry to independent tutors and, where relevant, referring it to tutoring partners. We aim to feature only tutors who meet our verification standards (see our Safeguarding Policy), but we do not guarantee any particular tutor's availability, suitability, results, or academic outcomes.

3. No agency relationship

Because we are a directory and not an agency, we do not arrange bookings, set lesson fees, supervise lessons, or take payment for lessons on a tutor's behalf. Fees, scheduling, cancellations and the conduct of lessons are agreed directly between you and the tutor.

4. Tutor listings

Tutors who list with us must meet the verification requirements in our Safeguarding Policy, including holding a valid Enhanced DBS certificate. Tutors are responsible for the accuracy of their own listings and for the lawful conduct of their tutoring. We may suspend or remove any listing at our discretion, including where a safeguarding concern is raised.

5. Payments for our own products

Some products we sell directly — such as revision packs or paid advertising for tutors — are paid for through our payment provider (Stripe). Prices are shown at the point of purchase. Digital products (such as downloadable revision packs) are delivered electronically; because they are made available immediately, statutory cancellation rights for digital content may not apply once download has begun. Contact us if there is a problem with anything you have purchased.

6. Your responsibilities

• Provide accurate information when you submit an enquiry or application.
• Only submit a form if you are a parent, guardian or adult student.
• Do not misuse the site, attempt to disrupt it, scrape it at scale, or use it for any unlawful purpose.
• Carry out your own checks before engaging a tutor and supervise arrangements involving children appropriately.

7. Intellectual property

The content, branding and design of this website belong to NearMeTutor or its licensors and may not be copied or reused without permission, except for normal personal use of the site.

8. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for the acts, omissions, quality or conduct of independent tutors, nor for any loss arising from arrangements you make with them. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).

9. Safeguarding and privacy

Your use of the service is also governed by our Safeguarding Policy and Privacy Policy, which form part of these terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.

11. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows when they last changed; continued use of the site means you accept the current version.
